The 3 ‘C’s: Coloured Combination Competition. As usual, I arrived not knowing who I’d be riding, I saw Carl, Rowley and Quinn as potential chosen victims, I mean steeds for me today ?? Soon enough, I found I had Eeyore aka Carl, so we had a brush down and feet picking session before chucking his tack on and fighting with his bridle’s buckle. Ever enthusiastic ? he dragged one foot in front of the other to the steps for me to get on and then felt he’d rather try and wander into the yard than go in the Eeyore buckle up butter cup I have anger issues and a serious shirt. Alas, he did not get his way and we were soon heading in the right direction around the track.

I saw that the jumps were still up from Friday’s jumping competition ??which was an exciting sight – love a good bit of jumping, as does Carlos! ?After a little warm up and a couple of practice cross poles, there was no messing and once told the course, we had to attack all in one go. Game on! ? Off we set at a nice canter over the first jump, we didn’t manage a flying change, but I soon sorted that, then up the long side for the second and third (with a & b) jumps, again just about Eeyore buckle up butter cup I have anger issues and a serious shirt the rhythm. Headed towards the yellow fourth jump, on to the fifth, again not managing a flying change, but I spotted and sorted it again, to go over the sixth cross pole and finally an upright, leaving every jump up. AND we did ALL of this without a word of guidance from Clare as we rode, including whether the canter leads needed sorting! ??? There is hope!

We had a little cool off walk before picking up the Eeyore buckle up butter cup I have anger issues and a serious shirt to have another pop at it so to speak but this time with all the jumps as uprights…game face; time to turn the pressure into concentration and determination, especially as Sean and were now present First jump, cleared and did a flying change, the second we started to get a bit long, but cleared that along with three A and B, we rolled four but it stayed up, another long stride into five managing another flying change to go on to numbers six, (which he thought about running out on) and finally seven. Both cleared and we even did another flying change to come round the track and down into trot then walk. g
